What should I expect during the first session? The first session is an intake appointment. It involves getting background information from you to understand your needs. Sessions are 53 minutes long and sets the foundation for your therapeutic journey.

What is counseling like? Counseling is a collaborative process where we work together to better understand your experiences, build practical skills, and create meaningful change. A counselor's role is to offer support, guidance, validation, and tools that can help along the way. Counseling isn't a quick fix. Lasting change comes from what happens both during and between sessions. A counselors job is to provide guidance, hold space, and help you figure out what you need to make the changes to improve your quality of life.

Does counseling actually help? Research shows that the relationship between a client and therapist is one of the most important factors in successful counseling. Feeling safe, understood, and supported creates the foundation for meaningful growth and change. Clients often see the greatest benefits when they actively engage in sessions, attend consistently, and apply what they are learning in sessions in everyday life.

How long will counseling take? The length of counseling looks different for everyone. Some people seek support for a specific challenge, while others continue longer as they navigate life transitions, explore deeper patterns, or work towards personal growth. Sessions are 53 minutes long and are tailored to your individual needs. In the beginning, sessions are held weekly to build momentum, establish a strong therapeutic relationship, and create meaningful progress. Overtime sessions may decrease to biweekly and monthly as you build confidence to apply skills independently.
