A Note About ...

Identity is more than labels that we identify with. It's the story about who we are, where we belong, and how we move through the world. That story is shaped by our families, culture, communities, relationships, lived experiences, and the messages we receive about who we should be. None of us experience life through just one identity. Our race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic background, abilities, values, beliefs, and other parts of who we are intersect in ways that influence both how we see ourselves and how the world responds to us.

You may be exploring who you are, navigating identity concerns in society, questioning or deconstructing beliefs you inherited, or realizing that the life you've built no longer reflects who you are. You may be asking bigger questions about meaning, purpose, belonging, freedom, or what it means to live authentically. Sometimes growth means embracing parts of yourself that have always been there or feel hidden due to shame. Other times, it means letting go of identities, expectations, or ways of seeing yourself that no longer fit your narrative. â€‹

Counseling offers a space to explore these questions without pressure to have all the answers. Together, we'll examine old belief systems, assumptions, and perceptions that may no longer serve you while making room for new ways of understanding yourself and your place in the world toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and aligned with your values.

This practice is committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care. It is welcoming to people from all cultural backgrounds, secular beliefs, spiritual traditions, and other belief systems and worldviews. Whoever you are and wherever you find yourself in your journey, you'll be met with curiosity, respect, and compassion.

A Note About ...

Culture shapes us in ways we don't always recognize. It influences how we communicate, express emotions, build relationships, define success, experience family, understand mental health, and make sense of the world around us. Culture is more than race or ethnicity. It includes the values, traditions, expectations, and unspoken rules we learn from our families, communities, social environments, and lived experiences. For some, culture provides a deep sense of belonging and connection. For others, it can bring feelings of conflict, pressure, or uncertainty. You may find yourself balancing different cultural expectations, feeling caught between generations, questioning family roles, navigating discrimination, or wondering how to honor where you come from while also becoming the person you want to be. There may be parts of your culture you deeply value and others that no longer fit with your life or values. Both can exist at the same time.

Our cultural experiences don't exist in isolation. They intersect with other parts of our identity and influence how we understand ourselves how we relate to others, and how we perceive the outer world. Taking time to explore these influences is about gaining a deeper understanding the experiences that have shaped you so you can make more intentional choices moving forward. Here, your cultural experiences are welcomed with curiosity, humility, and respect. We'll explore how your family, community, traditions, and lived experiences have influenced your beliefs, relationships, and sense of self to understand your unique experience where every part of your story is valued.
