Life Transitions &
Grief
A Note About ...

Life transitions can feel exciting, unsettling or devastating. Even changes we choose can bring uncertainty, stress, and feelings of confusion. Every transition asks us to adapt, often requiring us to let go of what was familiar while learning to navigate what comes next. Life transitions can take many forms. They may include a breakup or divorce, starting or ending a relationship, moving to a new area, changing careers, beginning college, graduating, becoming a parent, adjusting to an empty nest, caring for aging parents, receiving a medical diagnosis, retiring, or finding yourself in a stage of life you never expected. Some changes happen suddenly, while others might develop over longer periods of time. Regardless of how, transitions often affect our routines, relationships, identity, or sense of stability.

Periods of change can also bring deeper questions about what matters most, a sense of isolation, and even imposter syndrome . They can uncover old fears, challenge long held beliefs, or create opportunities to grow in new ways. It's common to feel hopeful one day or uncertain the next. Both experiences can exist at the same time. Counseling offers a space to process these changes to create a sense of ease through this stage of your life. We'll make sense of what you're experiencing, build practical coping strategies, navigate uncertainty with greater confidence, and help you move through life's transitions in a way that feels grounded, intentional, and true to who you are.

A Note About ...

Grief is a reflection of love, loss, and the ways our lives are forever changed by what we've experienced. While many people associate grief with death, it can also follow the end of a relationship, a major life transition, changes in health, infertility, losing a job, moving away, or letting go of a future you once imagined. Grief can arise anytime something meaningful is lost. There is no right way to grieve. Grief rarely follows a straight path. It often comes in waves, returning unexpectedly through memories, anniversaries, places, or ordinary moments that suddenly feel different.
Loss doesn't only change our circumstances. It can change our identity, our relationships, and the way we percieve people and the world around us. You may find yourself asking questions about meaning, purpose, or how to move forward while carrying what cannot be replaced. These questions don't have easy answers. Counseling offers a place where grief doesn't need to be fixed or rushed. Together, we'll make space for your unique experience, honor what has been lost, and explore ways to carry your grief without letting it define your entire life. Healing doesn't mean forgetting or "moving on." It means finding a way to move forward while continuing to hold love, memories, and the things that matter to you.
